Eloise Harvey secures #1 national ranking at SEAA Championships

The South of England Athletic Championships took place last weekend, on the 1st and 2nd of June. U20 athlete, Eloise Harvey had a particularly successful weekend competing in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump competitions.

The long jump took place on Saturday and Eloise surprised herself (and her coach, Trevor Bent), recording four PB’s in her six jumps. Three of the jumps exceeded six metres with a best of 6.10 metres to win the competition and become Southern Area Champion.

The Triple Jump took place on the next day and again, Eloise started with two PB’s, broke the Championship Best Performance with a distance of 12.87 metres and finished second to an Italian lady, Mame Sow, who manages to improve Eloise’s new record by just 5 cm with a distance of 12.92 metres.

These performances give Eloise National ranking positions of 4th and 1st respectively (Mame Sow doesn’t qualify for a Great Britain ranking).

The qualifying distance for the British Championships Triple Jump (senior) is 12.70 metres and Eloise has her fingers crossed that having reached this distance she will receive an invitation.

In addition to Eloise, three other Dartford Harriers Females took part in the competition and their performances are summarised below:

  • Kat Sutton, narrowly missed a podium place, finishing in 4th place in the 800m with a time of 2:12.01.
  • Grace Thomas jumped 2.70m in the Pole Vaunt, finishing in 9th place
  • Bonnie Maugey secured a distance of 4.32m in the Long Jump and 14.47 in the 100m, the former being a season best performance.
